In my opinion, the best professional development for teachers about online learning comes from being a student in an online class.
ReplyDeleteWe have several faculty experimenting and some fully blending their courses. There are different needs and different tools that work best for different teachers and classes. We support what they want to do in the best way we can with professional development, access and technical support when needed. They work with each other and help each other out as more teachers become interested.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Albert that taking an online class is a must for anyone considering teaching online. A great way to get teachers started flipping their classes is for them to pilot the program. Piloting programs enables schools to start several initiatives simultaneously.
ReplyDeleteAt my school several science teachers in both the middle and upper schools have experimented with flipping their classes and they are delighted with the results so far. Two of those teachers are offering a two day class in how to flip your classroom at my school this summer.
